What Is Container?

Introduction to the container

The containers we know every day include tea cups, kettles, vases, etc., but this article will understand containers and pressure vessels and their manufacturing processes from a more professional perspective.

The container refers to a basic device mainly used for containing materials and mainly made of a shell. It is often used as a housing for storage equipment or other chemical equipment. It is mainly composed of shell, head, connecting pipe, flange and support.

The basic requirements for the container are: to meet the needs of the process; to ensure the safety of operation, including sufficient strength, rigidity and sealing; corrosion resistance, with a certain service life; easy to manufacture, install, maintain and use; low cost and material saving. In particular, precious materials, such as stainless steel and non-ferrous metals should be saved.

Containers are widely used in chemical production. According to the pressure, there are vacuum, normal pressure, and external pressure pressure vessels. The pressure vessel can be divided into low pressure, medium pressure, high pressure, and ultra high pressure vessels; according to temperature, there are normal temperature, low temperature, and high temperature vessels; according to the cylinder structure, there are single layers containers and multilayer containers; according to process use, there are storage, separation, reaction and heat exchange containers ;according to thickness,  there are thin-walled and thick-walled containers.

What is a pressure vessel?

Pressure vessel refers to a sealed device that contains gas or liquid and carries a certain pressure. The use of pressure vessels is extremely wide. It has an important position and role in many sectors such as industry, civil, military, and many fields of scientific research. Among them, the chemical industry and the petrochemical industry are the most used. The pressure vessels used in the petrochemical industry alone account for about 50% of the total pressure vessels. Pressure vessels in the chemical and petrochemical industries are mainly used for heat transfer, mass transfer, reaction and other processes, as well as storage and transportation of pressurized gas or liquefied gas. It is also widely used in other industrial and civil fields, such as air compressors. All kinds of special compressors and auxiliary machines of refrigeration compressors (coolers, buffers, oil-water separators, gas storage tanks, evaporators, liquid coolant storage tanks, etc.) are pressure vessels.

Manufacturing process of pressure vessel

The manufacturing process of pressure vessels can be generally divided into: raw material acceptance process, scribing process, cutting process, rust removal process, machining (including planing, etc.) process, rolling process, assembly process, welding process (product welding test Board), non-destructive testing process, hole marking process, general inspection process, heat treatment process, pressure test process, anti-corrosion process.

Different welding methods have different welding processes. The welding process is mainly determined by the material, brand, chemical composition of the workpiece to be welded, the type of weldment structure, and welding performance requirements. First of all, we must determine the welding method, such as manual arc welding, submerged arc welding, tungsten electrode argon arc welding, melting electrode gas shielded welding, etc. There are many types of welding methods, which can only be selected according to the specific circumstances. After determining the welding method, formulate welding process parameters. The types of welding process parameters are different. For example, manual arc welding mainly includes: electrode type (or brand), diameter, current, voltage, welding power source type, polar connection method, welding Number of floors, number of tracks, inspection methods, etc.
