CBG aka cannabigerol, is one of more than 120 cannabinoids found in cannabis. It was first isolated in 1964. Research into CBG is still at a preclinical stage, but the studies that are available suggest that it holds considerable therapeutic promise.
Features
Healthy: It's better for body and no psychotropic effect. And it has a high medicinal value, such as anti-fungal, anti-cancer, and etc.
Rare: The CBG contains in most cannabis plants is much less than CBD. So that it will be really hard to produce high purity CBG.
Expensive: People need more cannabis plants to isolate CBG compared with CBD and THC. And it means that plants have to give up the benifit cought from CBD and THC to produce CBG.
Compared with CBD
The same:
Both CBG and CBD are non-psychoactive which means they will not alter your state of mind in the way THC will. They can however reduce the psychotropic effect of THC if you consume a cannabis plant.
They both act on the endocannabinoid system.
Difference:
Most cannabis plants contain only 1% of CBG, but up to 25% of CBD. And they also have different molecular structures.
Advantages
CBG outperformed all of the cannabinoids tested and worked as well as vancomycin, a powerful antibiotic.
CBG boasts anticancer properties due to its ability to inhibit abnormal cell proliferation.
Purified CBG may represent a novel treatment option for cachexia, appetite loss, and wasting in humans. Unlike THC, CBG can help to drive hunger without any undesirable intoxicating effects
